This policy explains how Opener LLC ("opener", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects information when you use the opener app (on the web, iPhone, iPad and other devices) and the opener.coffee website.
- Your café's data belongs to your café. You can export it anytime.
- We use it only to run opener for you. We never sell it.
- Each café only ever sees its own data.
- opener AI drafts and suggests. A person on your team confirms before anything changes.

Information we collect
- Account information: your name, work email, phone number (if you add one), role, the stores you work at, and your sign-in and two-step settings.
- Café information you add or connect: items, counts, orders, vendors, invoices and receipts, recipes, waste, schedules, hours, pay rates, tips, messages, announcements, documents, repair jobs, photos and notes.
- Information from tools your café connects: when your café connects a point of sale, accounting, payroll or email service, we receive the data needed for the features you turn on, such as sales, hours worked, wages by job, accounts and bills.
- Photos, camera and microphone: only when you choose to take a photo (for example, of an invoice or a repair) or use voice entry. We use them for that task only.
- Device and usage information: device type, app version, approximate time zone, crash reports and how screens perform, so we can keep opener fast and fix problems.
- Notifications: if you allow them, a device token so we can send the alerts you choose.
How we use information
- To provide opener: show your numbers, prepare orders and schedules, read invoices, send the messages and alerts you ask for.
- To keep accounts and data secure, prevent misuse and keep a record of important changes.
- To support you when you contact us.
- To improve opener. When we look at trends across cafés, we use combined, de-identified data and only with the café's agreement.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your café's data for advertising.
opener AI
When you use opener AI, the information needed for that request (for example, an invoice image or the numbers on a screen) is sent to our AI service provider to produce a draft or an answer. Our providers may not use it to train their models. opener AI never makes changes on its own: a person confirms first. Your café can turn opener AI off.
Who can see your information
- People at your café: what each person sees is controlled by the permissions your café sets. Personal contact details and individual pay are limited to the people your café allows.
- Service providers: companies that help us run opener, such as hosting, databases, email delivery, notifications and AI processing. They act on our instructions and must protect the data.
- Tools your café connects: when your café sends an order, posts to its books or exports payroll, the data goes to that service under its own privacy policy.
- Legal reasons: if required by law, or to protect the safety of people or the security of opener.
- Business changes: if Opener LLC is involved in a merger or sale, data may transfer with the business under this policy.
How long we keep it
We keep café data while the café uses opener. If a café closes its account, we delete or de-identify its data within 90 days, except where we must keep records longer for legal, tax or security reasons. You can ask us to delete your personal account at any time, and you can delete it from your profile in the app.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Each café's data is kept separate at the database level, sign-in supports two-step verification, and important changes are logged. No system is perfectly secure, so please tell us right away if you think your account is at risk.
Your choices and rights
- See, correct, export or delete your information by emailing [email protected]. If your account belongs to a café, we may involve the café's owner or admin.
- Turn notifications, camera, photo and microphone access on or off in your device settings.
- Depending on where you live, you may have more rights under local law. We honor them.
Children
opener is a workplace tool and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If we make important changes, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app or by email.
